I'm sure its been mentioned on here before but once you do the Jailbreak this is a brilliant bit kit for £100!
After the Jailbreak you can install XBMC which gives you access to loads of services such as CatchupTV, 4oD, iPlayer, YouTube etc. etc. etc.
I'm no Apple Fanboy but its amazing value and a bloody good device

if you have a mac i'd recommend JB'ing and installing Plex, same sort of thing as XBMC.
Rumours there will be an A5 powered Apple tv soon, with 1080p playback

Im toying with putting Plex on it too to have a play, it looks a bit slicker.

That makes it really good for £100 quid then, I'd buy that if my TV didn't do it.
Might get an A5 powered one for the bedroom actually.

Im hoping to buy one with the money I make from selling my 4S.
Seen a few brand new BIN for £80 on eBay.
Ill use it for Air Play mirroring my iPad/iPhone with iOS5...Angry birds on 46" screen.

To be fair to John, it doesnt handle much 1080p content well.
Whilst it will play some, I think its quite limited.
Im also waiting for the A5 version before I purchase one.

I never bother with 1080p content anyway as:
1. It takes ages to download and then takes up too much room on the HDD
2. My ISP would probably have a problem with me streaming it
3. I can't tell the difference over 720p anway.

why people use 3rd part websites for jailbreaking i'll never know.
Head over to the website where the Iphone Dev Team actually do the work and release themselves.
Looking at the tic tac toe post, it explains Redsn0w is what you'll need for jailbreaking your AppleTV2 running 4.3
If you've not used redsn0w before, you need to manually download the 4.3 IPSW (Search google) and make sure you download the version suitable for the AppleTV2.

Yes, you select the firmare within Redsn0w as part of the JB process.

I used Seas0npass.. It does it all for you and its an un-tethered jailbreak.
