Ok looking at 2 50" plasma's:

SAMSUNG PS50B451B @ £599

&

PANASONIC TX-P50G10B @ £889

Ive looked on Pixmainia comparison but cant make much sense of all the blurg, in real life terms am I going to notice much between the 2?

Im guessing the main thing pro the Panasonic is its 1920x1080 & has built in freesat?

Would I be an idiot to go for the cheaper Samsung? Without viewing both will I even know what im missing

The price diference almost pays for a 26 LED TV for the bedroom...................

I've only seen the smaller 42" model (PS42B451) of that Samsung and i wasn't overally impressed, colours were a little dull when compared to a Panny panel, the inbuilt speakers were pretty lifeless, although i believe they are 3D Ready and the SD was reasonable.
You can also pick it up for around the £570 mark.

Personally i'd stick with the Panny as it's true 1080 and when you're talking about that much glass it will be noticeable. Plus colours on the G10s are absolutely brilliant and blacks are pretty damn good, and the scaled SD picture quality is impressive. Although have a look around as some shops/stores were doing free Panny BD Players (and Panny were doing free BDs with every BD Player purchase).

The G10 seems highly rated whenever i've looked on avforums.

My step-bro has the 42" LG PQ6000 and that looks really nice, i'm sure there will be a 50" version.

IF the samsung is a lot cheaper, and you need a 26" in the bedroom, then go for that. Imo there's not much noticeable difference on TV's anyway. Do you need freesat, or would you be getting Sky anyway?

I've got samsungs all round the house for no real reason, bought one looked good, so got a couple of others.

I'd have neither as they are both Plasma's.. Spend the extra cash on an LCD.. Better image quality and it wont three tonnes!

Extremely debatable And i'm not sure what you mean by "Spend the extra cash on an LCD", as LCDs tend to be cheaper. Plus weight? Who cares, it's not as if you're going to carry it around - once it's on the wall or a stand that's it!

Best bet get yourself down to RicherSounds/Sevenoaks/John Lewis/(an AV/Hi-Fi store) and have a look yourself. See if they'll set them up side by side and compare both SD and HD sources.

Sound on Samsungs tend to be very crap, I know it is on mine and i'm only 6ft from it and it was on my mates but since he got surround sound and some additional speakers it is a lot better. So my only advice is if you get the samsung and like good sound, then get some sort of speaker system going.

Also don't get dragged into buying £80+ HDMI cables (dixons and co will try and get your buy monster cables), it's digital, a £5 quid cable will be the same....

I've just purchased the Samsung 325R surround sound system thing. Should be here next week, so i'll report back with findings, personally I don't notice the sound being crap on my TV, but have nothing to compare with.

Think i'll need to get an optical spillter tho, ps3 and sky, although i'll probably go stereo from sky, and prologic II should make it surround sound I believe, bought it mainly for ps3 anyhoo

Wanted a Samsung Surround sound, so I can use Anynet and keep to one remote.

Panasonic is by far the better TV, if you arent looking to spend that much though then take a look at the S10 Panasonic instead of the G10 you posted there.

What the clown said!

If you want the best TV and care about Blu Ray, PS3/Xbox gaming and FullHD material from your computer, go for the Panasonic.

If you want the most for your money go for the S10.

If you want a decent screen without skinning your wallet go for the Samsung. It's a great screen and to most people it will be more than capable of delivering a satisfying picture from a DVD player.

Personally I'd go for the G10 for the shear image quality, though it does require quite good source material to let you notice the difference.

think john was talking about Mark saying he saw an improvement in PQ when changing cables - which is bollocks to the nth degree.

It is 100% complete utter bollocks.

The only possible way a gold plated cable would have made any difference is if the old one was faulty and if it was there would have been more artifacts than blurry text.

£8

I thought you were justifying buying a £40> cable.

£8 is basic.
