Right just looking at a Lil project so this is just a general discussion about possibly turboing a 1.6

Now main thing is cost is it worth it for something a Lil bit different or is a let a better option.
Now obviously buying a let with everything and a conversion kit etc and I've got 200bhp but works out quite expensive.

With a 1.6 I will need to change pistons and conrods, new manifold to take a turbo something like t25 with external wastegate, inletanifol to help at higher revs, possibly cams and a nice ecu with remap. Then things like oils lines etc. Frontera intercooler a gd choice?

Just weighing up pros and cons

Done the xe route already and want something different.

surely all the money u spend on the bits for a 1.6 you could just buy a c20let and have a faster standard engine with more potential?

And thought a bout a x18xe but after reading a few posts of mig and other forums ppl recommend not to do it something bout the stoke and rod angles when on boost around 6000 rpm or something lol

Its not simple, But I know all the ins and outs of it after having researched it all over and over etc.

Oil filter would need to be moved an the downpipe would need to have a notch for the oil filter relocation adapter, Its right in line with the exhaust from the turbo.

Oil feed would need to be taken from the oil pressure switch, Oil return into the top of the sump (either weld a fitting into a steel sump or tap a fitting into alloy sump).

Air feed into the turbo needs to be thought about, Std VXR intake section will not fit.

Then its fueling, which is up to you, Higher pressure FPR or proper ECU.

Std compression will take a bit of boost, Prob up to about 7psi, although melting would be the main worry.

Whatever else too lol

I would do it the simplest way by fitting an X18xe and bolting on a Dilabas turbo conersion.

They drive fine deliver the figures too.

Yes the Mini charger is pretty bulky in comparison to Rotrex, note how the intake in on the front of that Lupo Engine which makes the conversion easier albeit tight. The problem with the Vauhall engine the throttlebody/intake is at the rear which will give clearance issues. Also remeber the belts have to be accessable so it can be driven.

The only advantage to the mini charger is that its a sealed unit so no need to tap oil feeds to it etc.
