got the chance to buy a mint one of these off a mate for 2k

2000 W Reg
2 Former Keepers
11000 Miles
Tax & MOT
Blue & White Paintwork
Iridescent Bubble Screen
Datatag

Just researching them at the mo and weighing up the pro's and con's. So far the largest con is that i have no bike experience and one of these seems very powerful to begin with. The main pro is that i love it
I am nearly 21 so will de doing my 'direct access' so i'll be able to ride it legally. Just done a few online insurance quotes saying i am already 21 (to get an idea) and they are around the £700 fully comp with 5k limited milesage which i thought was decent.
If anyone has any info or advice on them then that would be great.

Many thanks, Steve

not a good handling bike at low speeds, but other than that its a good allrounder.
bikes are freat toys but dangerous and possiblt the worst time to buy one, its cheap tho so get it and save it over winter untill weathers better.

Freind just got rid of his and was his first bike. he loved it and didnt find it that difficult to go to such a high powered bike striaght away

I nearly got an R6 as my first bike but everyone I spoke to said i'd probably be dead within 2-3 months

Opted for the Honda Hornet 600cc which I got for a bargain £2.5 with only 2k miles on it

Superb bike, very forgiving and you dont see 5-10 of them on every run you go on.

If you do get the R6 take it easy, they are very quick and less forgiving than for example the bike your doing your DA on.

Otherwise have fun and enjoy mate

Try ebike insurance. I was getting bogus quotes like you, but only £450 with them for a year @21 with Direct Access

At 21 everyone is moaning about cars being to dangerous....

Yet a 155mph bike, high 11's on the 1/4, yup, thats fine.....

New riders, heres some advice..

Start small, learn how to RIDE a bike (thats not goign flat out in a straight line, thats for tarts). LEarn how to ride properly, brakes, lines, moving your weight about, braking while cornering (you think thts easy on a bike, try it, CAREFULLY, or you'll meet the Ditch quite quickly).

Again, im not saying what someone should or shouldn't do, their money, its also their life...........

I've been riding 7 years now, and now are thinking of upgrading to a better weekend bike, but thats the way i've been brought up......

Its young bikers who buy a sports bike, crash it, then its the rest of us bikers that have to take the crap becuase that young rider is just another statistic.........

400's will nto get boring if you ride it properly. If all your interested in doing is 140mph, then get a fast car, why do it on a bike, a bike isn't about top speed, that really means nothing at all. I've known peopel to go froma 750 down to a 400cc because its more flickable and fun.... Esp on a tight twisty road.

And you also wouldn't be asking about fuel

Aye, won't ride it hard, yup, simple blip of the throttle by mistake...... Have you ever even ridden on the road?

Vicki Calvert passed her test, bought an R6, couldn't even turn at a roundabout and sold it...

Learn to ride properly before buying a good bike. Like cars, start small, learnt eh skills, work your way up. Why start halfway up the ladder.......

When you've seen a few accidents, peoples legs wrapped around their head, then you will understand what im saying. And to all those non-bikers with an opinon.... Well....

As i say, its not my life, and im jsut saying what i've learnt, and still learn every single day i ride my bike.

I'll expect the usual shut the fcuk up type comments........ Just because i don't want to see someone kill themselves.......

THANKYOU...

Not saying don't get a 600cc, something like a Bandit, SV650, Hornet, or even go down a class, ZXR400, VFR400 etc....... I think you understand where im coming from thoguh. My ways just much harsher and pisses peopel off
