Bit of a strange query here, but here goes..

Is it possible to have a speed restriction put on the speed of a car to limit it to 100mph for example? I'm fairly sure it is because i keep reading about import cars having them removed so surely it's possible to reverse the procedure to fit one..

If so, what is involved in putting the restriction on it? How is it done? How much would it roughly cost? And where abouts would i be able to get it done? etc..

Any help much appreciated..

I'm 99% sure i got caught..

Cruising along at about 140, concentrating on the road (as you do at those speeds) approaching an overhead bridge and caught a glimpse of a van sitting on top.. The thought of it being a speed camera van never even crossed my mind until i was virtually underneath it (which was quite quickly considering the speed i was moving at) and as i got pto it, it looked as if it had graffitti on the side of it - i remember reading the word 'UGLY' on it.. Just then the Road Angel made 3 very quick beeps (i was pretty much underneath the bridge at this point) and i checked the speedo and was still reading 110 as i came out of the other side of the bridge..

To be honest, there is no doubt in my mind that i've been busted. Expecting a £1000 fine and 12 month ban. Just awaiting my summons through the post any time now..

bein serious but, u can restrict the accelerator pedal if its just a short term thing so it wont ever reach top speed i assume it comprises acceleration as well but if it gets u out a hole then its worth a try.

Spine Road (dunno it's propper number) that leads from the A19 along to Ashington.. The van was on top of the bridge at the 2nd Blyth slip road..

Normally i would've turned off at the first or second, but i fancied carrying on along to the third that day for some bizarre reason..

aah the 189. know it well, i go up there most days. never seen a speed camera van on the bridges there tho.

mobile sites must post there locations 4 weeks beforehand, i just looked and theres no mention of a mobile van on the bridges

only on the northbound carriageway about halfway between the roundabout at the a19 and the 1st cramlington junction.

be careful on the 189, the police patrol regularly in unmarked cars since they took the camera down at the ashington end. havnt u seen the signs?

look out for a white bmw 5 series, only givaway is the symbols and numbers on the roof, coming down the sliproad from blyth turnoff (a193) and it was passing on the carriageway. think it had a square and a circle on the roof and two numbers.

isnt 140 a bit ott anyway?

on the restrictor side of things, speak to andy urwin tuning in newcastle they advertise in the back of the auto trader, they know theyre stuff when it comes to ecu modifying, would have thought it would be a reader module linked to the vehicle speed sensor that intermittently cuts fuel to the injectors at a certain speed.

much like a rev limiter, but working off the vehicle speed rather than engine revs.

hmmmmmm........got me thinking now

Does this master plan take into consideration any pre-confessions by posting the crime on a public forum?
