Seeing as i have powersteering, and air-con on my car, it seems like a lot of hassle to get a 2L lump in it. What are the tuning prospects for my engine, without going down the turbo route, way too expensive...what sorta BHP i b lookin at with:
Courtenay head
Lexmaul manifold
Velow inlet manifold
superchip?

any other descent mods with good power gains?
Cheers,
Anthony

Speak to Matt (uses a name along the lines of M4tt_C or something similar). He's running about 135bhp from his 1.4

+10% from a superchip, not sure about that!

U can get alot of power out of these engines the reason people say not to is just the expensive when its more cost effective to stick a larger lump in, but if u got the cash theres no reason why u cant mod it...

1.4 16v engines are good as far as 1.4 16v's go, but the 1.6 16v will always be better. That extra bit of torque makes a lot of difference.

I do know of a 1.4 16v Nova on Mig thats running throttle bodies and around 170+bhp.

I wouldn't go for LExmaul. Improves mid range power, but not really that much peak.

Mantzel means u have to rev the engine (16v's liked being revved anyway) but i still think it gives the best gains.

MAtt_C engine has pocketted pistons, cams, mantzel box, exhaust manifold etc and as said hes in the mid 130's, but he's sold that engine now to another guy on here.

PErsonnally, budget allowing, i'd go for (just performance parts)

Throttle bodies (or if youn can't afford that route yet (bout £1600-£2k))

Mantzel box
mild fast road cams (256/265 i think were the options)
Lexmaul exhaust manifold
Inlet and exhaust ports flowed to match
de-cat, + 2 1/4" system
Standard airbox + panel filter
Head work (funds allowing)
Custom mapped engine managment

every thing is basically bolt on. the unichip comes last.

head work. gasflowing - grinding of the head and ports to make the air flow better

porting - opening up the ports to increase airflow through them.

best inlet I have seen is the dbalis one. much gains are better than the mantzel etc
