What gearbox can i actually use on the above engine? ideally id like to use a 1.4 SRI one, then i dont need special driveshafts etc etc.... is this possible?
i know the sri gearbox is safe well over 100bhp because ive seen 1.4's running high bhp. ive tried the box from the smaller 1.2 engine and it fits on the 2L.. but not sure on the input shaft size/length. could someone please shed some light on this Thanks, Shane

i have the 20seh engine (130bhp version), this comes with the f16 cr box.

any big block gearbox will go onto the 2.0 8v engine (f16, f20, f28 that i can think of off the top of my head)

for reliability, the best option would be to use corsa gsi shafts, with mk2 cav 1.6 inner cvs (must have 22 female splines and 34 male splines) and the f16 cr box.

if u really want the short ratios (and also maybe run the risk of turning the box to chocolate) then u can use the f13 gearbox (as on your sri). as you said with this u can obviously use your standard shafts (i would still reccomend gsi ones tho)

with regards to above, the input shaft is different! soooo, u need the flywheel from a 1.7 diesel corsa (big block engine, with small block box fitted)
and obviously use the corsa clutch. this way clutch will fit, starter will engage the fly wheel, input shaft will fit, and yes the bell housing lines up.

2.0 + f13 = rapid (and possibly melted box )

go on do it it will be fun!

The gearbox you should use would be either a F16 or an F20. With some bodgery an F25 or F28 will fit, but I'm wasting my time saying that

Don't do that. Use an F16 with Cav inner CV's. This way you can use your Corsa driveshafts.

F16 is the way to go mate, gearing is a lot more suited to the 8v. The smaller gearbox may fit but it wont last, you may have seen 1.4 8v with 100+bhp but a 2.0 8v with similar bhp will have a lot more torque and this is what brakes things.

As mentioned above, find some corsa gsi shafts and cav inners, only option i would say.

f13 go on u know u want to

then just buy an f16 and some cav mk2 1.6 inners for when the f13 breaks

theres a boy on mig who has had the f13 on his 2.0 8v nova for quite a while now and its going strong

also know a couple of gus with valvers who are running an f13

They are both the same boxes with different internals though.

Don't piss about with all the COrsa gearbox shit. Just do the job properly.

quaife do a gearket which is only rated for standard power. no warranty when you shred it

best/cheapet plan is to get an F16CR from a scrappy
