just bolt the seat to the floor in the short term, use steel bars as bracing.

Job done for the weekend, sort out later

Are they adjustable buckets?

That makes sense now. I suppose im not brave enough to order just side mounts for my base mounted seats then try and bodge something to mount them on in between before combe anyway. I ordered cobra frames but they are on sliders, hoping they can be removed if they sit too high. Otherwise il be laying down to avoid the cage lol.

LOL just read that again and it makes next to no sense...

Basically because a base mounted seat has the base mounts (dhurrr) the base will have to be thicker than a side mounted one. With my OMP side mounts, there is my ass, 6mm of GRP then the floor... with a base mount there is ass, 30mm (ish) of seat, then maybe runners of some sort, then subframe, then floor...

Yeah what i's saying is there is that a base mounted seat is always going to be an inch or so higher than a side mount.

And again have to agree with Woz... he was using cobra (obv not FIA) subframes, and the sparco sidemounts... not good when the seat lifts of the floor...

the lowest way you will be able to mount a base mount is without runners (i presume you've done that anyway), direct to a subframe...

Rough Pic :P

That would be useful. Rallydesign stock side mount frames but not base mounts, was thinking of trying to bodge some together tomorrow as I need these asap.

side mounts can sit the seat lower than the base ones..unless you start bodging subframes. But I will let norledge tell you how to mount them on to a base mount style seat as i'm not sure.

and from what i've seen of some of the sparco ones I wouldn't get them as i've seen a pic of a VTS of a guy who went off at cadwell, the side mount had basically peeled like a sardine can. May have only been one incident but when it's something as important as the seat mount once to often imo.

Harnesses will be fitted tomorrow Paul.

Norledge the seats are base mounted ones so i dont need side mounts?

you got harnesses / a seat belt yet for the passenger butler or is it a repeat of ragigng around guildford again of just holding onto the cage

Get side mounts.

I presume this is a 106?

OMP subframes are the lowest i've found, the sit about level with the central tunnel, then OMP low profile side mounts, bolted to the OMG BIG i've got gave me about 2 inches of headroom with my helmet (i'm 6 foot 6)

I test sat in my car with my helmet on and its banging on the roll cage unless im basically laying down. Im going to try and get subframes in the next couple of days in order to fit my buckets. Does anyone know what type of subframes I can use in order to mount the seat as low as poss? They are base mounted buckets by the way and welding rails in isnt an option at the mo. Any other ideas? Cheers.
