and os, for chilli i use the colemans packet chilli mix, mince, tin of baked beans and a tin of chopped tomatoes :lol: and we have ours with a jacket tato and cheese - which we had tonight

Ian knows i'd like to be mod, i was a preem for 2 years then just didnt renew as i was only using it to host images and for my avatar

We could do with a mod, sad that i cant be one just because i dont pay towards the site, but nvm i'll contribute just as much as i do now regardless

You reheat them in the microwave, medium temperature for about 7-10 minutes, I boil some rice and it's all pretty much done at the same time.

That's very similar to how I make chilli :D

Looks nice that, when you eat the frozen portions do you defrost in the morning and then microwave or what?

Chilli Con Carne

Take your ingrediants:
Mince, onions, pepper, chilli peppers, chopped tomoates, tomatoe puree, kidney beans, garlic, chilli oil, chilli flakes, jalepeno peppers:


Put a little chilli oil and sunflower oil in a wok, and put on the lowest heat


Chop up the onion, pepper, chilli peppers and garlic:


Put them in the wok and fry on a low heat for 5 mins (forgot to get a pic), once this is done add your mince and again cook on a low/medium heat, stirring all the time to stop sticking/burning, this will take around 5-10 minutes depending on how much mince you put in:


Should look something like this after a while:


Whilst this is cooking take your kidney beans and rince them, also take your jalepeno peppers, cut them into chunks:


Add the kidney beans and jalapeno's along with a tin of chopped tomatoes and a spoonfull of chilli flakes:


Let it cook slowly for a few mins before adding some tomaote puree:


Let it all cook together for a further 5 mins, have a taste and decide if you want it hotter, at this stage it'll taste nothing more than a tangy bolognaise mix, so we need some flavouring, from left to right we have these following, chilli powder, tabasco sauce, chilli flakes and hot pepper sauce - they are also the mildest on the left and hottest on the right.
Add a little of what you like according to your taste and how hot you want it - I find that the hot pepper sauce is very very hot so use that carefully!
Remember that you can always add to it but not take it away!


After it was all cooked and tasting how I liked, I put it into 4 plastic take away trays (can be bought on ebay), once it has cooled down these will be frozen for use in the future



The bit that was left over I put into a small dish, warmed through a few Old El Paso taco shells which I put the mixture into before eating - and it was lush!


And that is pretty much it!

turned out ok...I think add a little bit more masala paste and maybe some spices as it was a bit bland....but still pretty good for a quick curry

That's the idea of this thread, like a "How To" guide to making things you may not of tried before, wonder if it could be stickied?

One of my favourite recent meals...

Turkey wrapped in bacon, with spinach and parmesan omlette, cooked in white wine and rosemary. Sounds complicated but not that hard to make.

Lay down bacon, turkey breast on top,. and some spinach thats been chopped and softened in a pan.


Then make the parmesan omlette (literally beat the eggs and stir in parmesan, and cook like a normal omlette) and place on top.


Roll them up into parcels and hold together with cocktail sticks


Cook in the oven 200 degrees C for about 30 minutes, in white wine and rosemary. Preferable not in a frying pan :lol:


I served it with sweet potato and butternut squash with some thai green curry sauce, and it was really nice :thumbs:

i can currently make;

Spag Bol, Pasta Sauces, Stir Fry, Omelette's, Curries, Chicken in bag and the other usual easy things on toast - but am gonna get bored of the above easily - so people post some more - or i may have to buy a book and follow a recipe!:o

We are having chilli tonight, i cooked cod in parsley sauce with tatos and peas last night and we will be having lamb kelpiklopt (sp) soon as well as thats low in phattyness

Healthy recipies as well would be good

Im getting quite into this whole cooking/wife thing, i always cook and richies recently started getting a lunch made for him for work as well :P and i do all the cleaning, and i like doing it now :|

Red pepper & Chilli chicken stir fry

Take the following items:



Strips of pre-cooked chicken breast
1 onion
2 garlic cloves
2 chilli peppers
Water chesnuts and bamboo shoots
Chilli oil
1 Jar of Sharwoods cooking sauce
Peas (Not pictured)
Sweetcorn (Not pictured)
Chilli flakes




Put a equal amount of sunflower oil and chilli oil in a large wok and warm slowly, Chop up the onion into quick large chunks, the garlic gloves and chilli peppers into small pieces, and add to the wok.
Once they have been warmed through on a low heat for 5 minutes add the chicken and mix together on a medium heat - keep it moving around the wok so it doesn't burn and stick to the bottom.



Add the jar of cooking sauce, put a little water in the empty cooking sauce jar, shake up to get the rest of the sauce from the jar, and pour into the wok, then add as many peas and sweetcorn as you see fit.



Add a generous heaped teaspoon of chilli flakes to the wok and stir in.




Turn heat down to the lowest setting, cover with lid and leave to simmer for 10 minutes (I put some mini garlic and corriander naan breads in the oven at this stage).




Once done serve with either naan bread (these are mini garlic and corriander ones) or boil some rice.

It took now long than 25 minutes from start to finish, but bear in mind that the chicken was pre cooked and 10-15 minutes of that was cooking time.
It tasted lovely and I had a lot left over which I have put in plastic 'take away' containers and I will freeze for another day once they have cooled down.

****- Taste (Lovely, spicy but not enough top cause problems the next day!)
***-- Value for money (Chicken is the most expensive part but it goes a long way, serves 4 people)
