Yeah i think you'll actually be fine with the body and the standard 18-55mm lens, unless you're going to be a fair distance away or need the compression that a longer lens will give.

For that sort of thing you'll probably need to stop the lens down abit (smaller aperture, bigger f number) so a tripod may be an idea too.

50 mm might get you too close, depending how far you can get from the subject.

I'd give the kit lens a go to see how wide or narrow you need it to be.

What's it going to be used for in work?

Standard is 18-55 mm, 50 mm is a prime (zoom-less) lens that's very cheap and very good.

Cheers Balling.
I assume the 50mm lens it the standard one it comes with?

In that case, I may just buy the camera and consider the lens afterwards.

Any point in the huge lens?

We have a 1200D at work used for employee and product photos. Almost exclusively use the Canon 50mm lens.

I bought two wireless Cactus flashes for it and it's a fantastic bit of kit. Wouldn't believe the difference a bit of lighting does when taking photos.

Im looking for a new DSLR to use purely at work, to be used both indoors and out, but mainly indoors.

A friend suggested I look at the EOS 1200D with Tamron A14 AF 18-200mm Lens

Is the above best I can get for that sort of money?
