Snapsort is a brilliant site, found that recently. As he said, the Tamron 70-300 can be bought for £120or so brand new
http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk used to be awesome, haven't used it recently, but I'd assume it'll still help out!

Both will be good cameras, so you probably won't go far wrong with either. Go somewhere that you can handle both and have a good play with both then decide which you prefer. One thing to think about is the Nikon has an optical viewfinder meaning it's a traditional one. The Sony has a digital screen in it's place, reading through some of the photography forums they seem to be an acquired taste but not without their advantages ie a much faster shooting rate than the equivalent Nikon. A lot of people swear by them, a lot of people despise them so take both comments with a pinch of salt.
I haven't used either so i can't comment first hand but looking at this comparison the Nikon seems to be the better camera, but that's based on a whole camera basis, there may be things that you want where the Sony is better.

That said you get the longer lens with the Sony deal, if you wanted the Tamron for the Nikon it'd cost an extra £100 (Nikon also do a 70-300 which can be had for less than £100 second hand :) )
