I will admit that the lac of PoE on non pro devices is crap but I really rate the Wifi, it's a piece of piss to set up and works a dream. Infact, just bought 6 more for another school I'm working with now.

Shouldn't have had to tbh. For the cost of sending a PoE injector with every piece of equipment they could have just built proper 48v PoE into it to begin with.

Got one of those unifi cameras to try, it's pretty crap compared to the hikvision stuff.

I've just taken delivery of two hikvisions from John's Chinese seller, so I'm after something to power them.

Where possible id stay away from injectors, few reasons, cheap ones have a high failure rate, also they are not that cost effective. If you stick a managed PoE switch in you have the ability to remotely reboot the cameras.

Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I around £100 from UK sellers; as John said, can get them cheaper from China but there's plenty of fakes about.

Who to use? Want server software and PoE ethernet, preferably scalable easily. Not stuff from Chinese eBay. Cost effective but not cheap! :) |
