I will admit that the lac of PoE on non pro devices is crap but I really rate the Wifi, it's a piece of piss to set up and works a dream. Infact, just bought 6 more for another school I'm working with now.

Shouldn't have had to tbh. For the cost of sending a PoE injector with every piece of equipment they could have just built proper 48v PoE into it to begin with.

Yep, John failed to look at all of the range.

All of the Pro range are? I'm using UAP-AC's with NetGear ProSafe Switches...

I spotted that when looking at them for cameras instead of Hikvisions; seems you have use their own switches/injectors :|
Saying that, i believe the new 'pro' camera is compliant......

Got one of those unifi cameras to try, it's pretty crap compared to the hikvision stuff.

I have been looking at this kit. Seems reasonable for the money.

Having just fitted a load of Hikvision cameras I am seriously impressed.

I got a cheap tplink one, does the job.

I've just taken delivery of two hikvisions from John's Chinese seller, so I'm after something to power them.

Talking of POE switches.. anyone want to buy a Netgear FS108P ? :)

Where possible id stay away from injectors, few reasons, cheap ones have a high failure rate, also they are not that cost effective. If you stick a managed PoE switch in you have the ability to remotely reboot the cameras.

Milestone Systems for Software.

I've found that most aren't proper POE i.e. 48v..

Sorry VRS should have said, I've got one lined up but seeing what else is out there :)

Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I around £100 from UK sellers; as John said, can get them cheaper from China but there's plenty of fakes about.

Synology with Surveillance station and the hikvision cameras. Can get them cheaper from China but load of UK sellers.

Who to use? Want server software and PoE ethernet, preferably scalable easily. Not stuff from Chinese eBay. Cost effective but not cheap! :)
