I'd say there's your problem......my best guess would be a virus. Some of the viruses around these days have a list of filenames of well-known anti-virus products, and will shut them down if you try to use them. And the fact your machine is running dog-slow at the moment is another hint. One way to check is to go through your task-list (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and see where every single running-process is installed, but be careful when ending processes, though, make sure it's definitely not something Windows needs.

My best suggestion would be, as already said above, a full format and clean-install of Windows.

I've noticed Outlook and Outlook Express slow down if the virus scanner installed doesn't completely have its act together when trying to check incoming mail. It'll cause Outlook to hang even though its not (strictly) Outlooks fault.

Thanks people. I've re-installed windows 98, re-installed Internet Explorer 6 which does Outlook too and Willay thanks but my inbox is empty. I believe I got some problems when I accepted a file on MSN, I think I may have been then, but it was a day after that the problems started. Something messed up my Norton Antivirus too because that just turns its self off when doing a scan.

if its page faults on ME or 98 it could be a virus, or you have a very bard conflict, fresh zero fill format would sort you out.

When I open Outlook Express it takes about 2 minutes to actually get into the program, normally it just went straight into it. Also when i'm on the net and have to put in a username and password, the window in working in freezes for about 30 seconds everytime on every window. I'm also getting a lot of Invalid Page Faults if I double click a .exe file.

If this is what I think it is, can it be fixed easily? Or are there maybe other problems it could be.
