The gridhost address and port 465 is for SSL; your domain and port 25 is vanilla unsecure SMTP.

If you want to use SSL then you need make sure username/password authentication is enabled (in Outlook it's under 'Outgoing Server' tab under 'More Settings' within your account settings).
Similar you need make sure SSL is selected on the account and the correct ports (They're listed on your hosting control panel; if using cPanel it'll be under the 'Email Addresses') are used.

Tbf drop them a ticket, you'll get a reply with a few minutes or they're open 'til 11PM so give them a bell

It's set as IMAP on both my phone and PC, although this is the bit I don't understand - the SMTP server on my phone is mail.gridhost.co.uk port 465 yet on my PC is mail.refineddetail.co.uk port 25. Yet if I change the PC settings to that of my phone it all screws up again.

I have to admit I can't remember why I've set my phone to that either :(

SMTP is only for outgoing.

Could be set up as IMAP on PC and POP3 on phone possibly and only 1 service was down.

Your phone probably uses the STMP server for your phone provider (o2, EE, Vodafone etc) rather than your email service provider.

I couldn't get my NTLWorld/GoogleMail to work on my phone for ages then remembered I needed to use the o2 SMTP settings and it worked first time.

Ok I think the main issue seems to have been down to an SMTP server issue that TSO Host had yesterday - quite why my inbox completely disappeared from my computer and why my phone still handled it all ok though I don't know!

All seems a bit slow to sync now but at least I have everything back!

For easiest access immediately, I'd imagine whatever host you're using has a webmail login area you could use in your browser?

Evening all.

Just got back from a weekend away - have had numerous emails come in over the weekend that I've been dealing with on my phone.

Have fired up the PC tonight (Windows Live Mail) and am struggling to access my emails - they're coming through fine on my phone still, but my PC isn't able to connect to the IMAP server (which is run through my site's host)

Keep getting the error message / code "Your IMAP server has not responded in 60 seconds" and "unable to update cached message flags" 0x800CCC0F

What's broken?! Help needed please as can't just use my phone for emails - it only holds a few before they disappear and can only be accessed on a PC!

Please bare in mind I need to be spoken to in basic, plain english!

Cheers
Rich
