its to do with vb from the other night lol and so yeah i thought it would be simple to just add a number into a cell than add that to a total in another column.

cheers for trying to help

Ug...

Brain don't wanna work :lol:

Has it got to update automatically? I'm just thinking it'd be dead easy to do a lil macro to hold the figure in a variable and clear the cell? Then you could just assign it to a keyboard shortcut and run it - often :(

Um, can't think of another way at the mo :boggle:

Well, you can't have =SUM(A1+B1) cause that'd be a circular reference...

Gimmie a min...

on excel how do i get a cell to continuously add to the total of another cell?

eg
WHEN 5 IS TYPED INTO CELL A1
B1 SHOWS THE TOTAL
cell A1 =5
cell B1 =5 (would have formula =sum(a1+b1) but this dont work as when a1 changes so does the total)i want the total to be cummulative.

Now i want to type somthing else in cell A1 and it to add onto the total in B1

eg

A1 =1
B1 =6

i cant find the formula to do this

sum=(add to total or somthing)
