Thats ok then, you'll need to find out where your studs are and their distance apart, you can either do this with a stud detector or use a small thin screw driver along the very top of the skirting board, just keep poking it in until it hits wood along the top of the board, that way you'll know where your uprights are. you can just calk over the top to cover the holes afterwards.

Or just chap along the wall and leave no holes.

Flat bracket would be ideal, its a timber stud wall.

Stud spacing should be about 600mm but can vary.

Use some chunky screws into the timber uprights (3" 10s) and use a couple of dry-line fixings in the plasterboard just to stop any flexing/gaps.

I wouldnt hang a 50" with a single stud fixing and i do this for a living.

What type of bracket do you want? Flat or cantilever?

Is it a timber stud wall or is it just battened off the brick/block wall for insulation? Like John said you can cut out the plasterboard to have a look behind but i dont recommend this as it leaves alot of patching to do if you take the TV down again.

There are loads of ways of doing it mate, need to know wall construction first.

Various ways.

Cut a hole out the gyproc and get a dwang fired in across the way.

There are mounts you get that come with/or seperate bars that span across 2 studs.

Chance it and get a good fixing on one stud.

I have a 50" samsung that i wouldnt mind putting up on my bedroom wall to save some space but the only problem is our walls are thin plasterboard.

Trying to hang a picture up on the wall is a bloody nightmare never mind a tv

Could it be done and how? :) i dont want a 1300 pound tv falling off the wall and smashing tbh
