I hear alot of negative reviews about the SC101 so thats out of the running.

I was just wondering if there was a little box that would run the NAS software that would enable you to plug in external USB harddrives to it to turn them into network drives as it were?

End goal is to get a logitech squeeze box up and running so I am looking at the best NAS solution

personally, you ought to get one or the other, a NAS box or an external hard disk.

I used to own netgear sc101, which almost died on me, so i decided to get a proper NAS box, 4x1TB disks in running Raid5 (raid 0 with a backup drive incase one fails).
Im also going to use it to stream video.
My sc101 streams ok, but i wouldnt recommend it.

I have 2x 1TB WD MyBooks, these are not network drives but I would like to turn them into that.

Is there such a product that you can plug an ethernet plug into one end and the USB drives into the other?
Failing that what is the cheapest NAS box that has 2x USB ports and can act as a media streamer?

Or am I best off just un-casing the 2 drives and putting the disks into a NAS box?
