Originally posted by John CRT's are not better. The only possible thing CRT's still have going for them is contrast and brightness. Which lcd's are catching up on. The resolution and all the other benefits far outweigh the colour of the blacks. ww.avforums.com steve.
The resolution on a HD ready CRT and a HD ready LCD is EXACTLY the same, so thats out of the window. Some LCD are only 6 bit pannels instead of 8bit (like CRTs are). LCDs also suffer pixel response issue and contrast issues (whihc are getting better yes, but still dont match CRTs) then theres input lag, which mostly effects LCDs for PCs but can still effect LCDs if you use one to play a console or something. If you spend £1500-2000 on an LCD you'll get one close enough to CRT quality that you probably wouldnt noitce the difference much, but on cheaper pannel it will be clear. To be honest it depends how much you notice the quality diffenece. Some people wont noitce it much, but other will. I spent £690 on a 24inch Dell 2405FPW LCD monitor for my pc and i can even see where this falls down against my old £95 19inch CRT monitor.
