I've just went and had a look at an svideo cable and on second thoughts it does look like it'll fit.
I'm not sure what the extra pins in the middle will be for and yes that symbol does look right.
A 4 pin one will fit in.

The extra 2 pins are for composite video.
They will be for that adaptor you posted from ebay.
I's use s-video to s-video if your tv has it though.

I'm pretty sure that's a PS2 keyboard/mouse socket?

You can just about make the port out there :)

The graphics card in my laptop is a:
ATI Mobility radeon xpress 200 series

I'm pretty sure there is an S-Video port on the side. I looked on google images for the svideo output logo and the logo matches I think

S-video only has 4 pins.
Are you sure its s-video?
For example my graphics card has a connector that looks a bit like s-video but it actually has a break out cable with s-video included.

So if I was to buy an S-Video to scart lead that should in theory work from my laptop to my tv?

Will have to experiment with a lead off e-bay I think :)

should do.

As a side note, only video will be transmitted in both cases. No audio is carried.

Just wondering if anyone knows or not?

Will the 7 pin still work using a 4pin lead?

Right I am wanting to connect my laptop to my familys widescreen TV while I am back home over the summer.....

My laptop has a 7 pin S-video output but the TV has a 4 pin s-video input?

Will a 4pin to 4pin lead like THIS work?

I know that s-video dosnt transmit sound so I have the lead i need to take sound from my laptop to the TV sorted already.

Just wondering if the 7pin and 4pin connections will work with each other?
At a complete guess I would say that the 7pin type connection would transmit the sound whereas the 4pin type connect would only transmit video??

Help
