'MySQL is not running on your system - database list could not be retrieved'

I can not start it becuase i delted the core mysql database apperantly.

Especially this peice of information :

Uptime

The number of seconds the server has been up.


Bare in mind I have no idea when it comes to linux never mind sql :)

I am running debain with webmin.

I restarted mysql server the other day but stupid removed the mysql database.

Now I have tried to reinstall mysql and it appears to be ok, but it still will not allow me to start mysql.

I am using the following command

/etc/init.d/mysql start|stop|restart.

Any ideas and commands i can run to reinstall the internal mysql database.
