T Forget Plasma screens as their poop they'll live about 3-5 years then the tube goes, IMO a LCD screen is far superior & picture quality is far better than a plasma, also if the plasmas are left on for too long they'll suffer from screen burn this is where the image is burnt onto the screen.
Two years ago yes not anymore, 60,000hr at 12 hours watching a day is 13 years. Plus Plamsa do not have tubes, could go into detail on how they work but its a bit sad. Though i am a tube fan and have a decent tube telly at home instead of a plasma.
lol @ tube in a plasma... as for lcd vs plasma..... have you seen them side by side... i work in a sony centre and we have two top models next to each other, LCD's tend to be really harsh and sharp, whereas plasma' have a nicer softness... plus you'll pay £7000+ for a 42" LCD (sony anyways) where a 42" plasma start from £1700 (again sony) plasma models id recommend are kep42m1 which is £1700ish or if you spend a bit more get the kdep37xs1 which is on offer for £2999.99 for the set, glass floating stand, dvd recorder & 3yr warranty... oh and unlike the "cheaper" brands both sets are scart on the back, intergrated tuner (freeview on the 37") and the picture is supurb on both.... not that im biased though......:|
