Get hold of a program called Partition Magic... This will allow you to split your hard drive into 2 different virtual drives - one for re-installing an operating system, other for backing-up documents. Just be-careful when/if in Windows's setup over which partition you format, wrong choice and all is lost. Make a note of each drive letter C/D/E etc... Just remember where you've backed everything up on to

That route is your best bet. Get a cheap hard drive, take your current one out, install your choice of operating system on the new drive, computer up and running then get the other hard drive in with your files on.

if havent got yer HD partitioned(and if u only have a c: then i dont think it is) then i dont think ya can:(

the first thing i do when i get a new computer is format it and partition it.

saves alot of hassle if ya need to reformat.

maybe somebody else knows a way doing it that i dont :boggle:

if it was partitioned u could dump all yer mp3's onto one of the other drives then just format C

ya'd loose all yer installed programs but ya can download/install them again
