To be fair, how often do cars really get nicked? I mean if you have a decent modified car, the first mod you should do imo should be a cat 1 and perhaps more secutity mods. I mean if your car gets broken in to you prob wouldnt claim n e way cos you would lose ncb etc.
So reall y i think it is great if they dont charge you extra for mods, cos unless your car gets written off big time, you are unlikely to ever claim for em anyway?

to be honest though i probably wouldnt claim for my car anyway, i would just strip it

ive got insurance with liverpool victoria and they told me there would be no extra charge for kit etc but when i rang em up to let them know about my kit the guy started telling me that my premium WOULD go up i was pretty pissed off but went ahead with it anyway as my initial premium was quite good.

I'm strongly considering going to LV when i renew my policy in a few months.

The quotes i've been getting on their websites are mad, £3000 for me on my Dad's name on a Porsche Boxster (grp 18) nowhere else that i know of would insure me at all. They also quoted something like £1300 for me on a parents name on a BMW Z3.

Got refused insurance once cos one company wouldn't cover any cars in wales!
Thought they were taking the mick at first but they wont quote wales, n.ireland and a few other selected places.
They must of had a few claims of people crashing into sheep or something!!!!!!!!!!!

this happened to my mate in his Evo6 last summer, he hit a sheep at 120mph, the sheep exploded into bits, as did the front of his car!

she said as long as youve got all receipts or some proof, its okay! so ill just have to take pics aswell, but yeah getting it in writing and a full assessment done is a good idea, so if a claim was to be made, alot of hassle will be saved....

i was with N union b4 and i wrote my corsa off, which was modded to the max, and N union refused to pay out - so i went to the ombudsman, and they investigated it, and after 8 months they got n union to pay out, the only reason being the ombudsman said n union wasnt clear enough on asking me about modifications, when they said have u any mods, i said yes a body kit, and that was it, she were meant to expand on that, e.g sopoiler, wheels etc....

Id ring again and check with another phone operator.
I know they never used to charge for engine upgrades but do now.

If it is true make sure the modifications section says some thing like "ANY".
Cos if its blank and you claim then they'll deny the phone call ever happened!:!

Well 8 months ago i had to change from liverpool victoria (frizzell) because they wouldn't allow a 30% power increase.
Was also paying extra for wheels, suspension and induction kit.

yeah!!.. dint know that. still though pretty decent insurance company ...

the only bad thing is that excess is £400

im 20, ive got 6 points, and 1 claim against me, so i cant grumble, oh and ive got a new astra 1.6 sxi and my insurance is £1200

not bullshit at all patrick. I asked them the same question a while ago about modifications and they said the same thing to me. The only bullshit around here is the stuff pouring from your mouth about some £20k endowment plan in 2005.

Patrick

ps, anyone who risks doing that deserves to loose everything should they have to make a claim.

Yes but if your car goes missing youll get book value back.

Just spoke to them about some modifications, ive done to my new car, and they said that i dont have to declare modifications!!!!

so i said what if i put a full kit on, wheels, you know the full works, and they said u dont have to tell us, its all covered, even if u modify the engine...

and also they dont load for having penalty points....

how good or mad is that?
