car industry is now built around life cycle so Vauxhall would ahve been bidding to win new work anyway for the UK

At least they are honouring existign commitments but will see when new models are due to begin production

same at ford at bridge end I believe after JLR will start to build their own engines in 2018

Sounds plausible, these sorts of deals always strike me as strange because I assume they'll still want to maintain the brands, so they're not doing much for competition. Only thing they buy is the headache of trying to close things and find efficiencies.

And yes, no way the European factories will be closing, they love a good fire

The conspiracy theory is Groupe PSG is heavily backed by the EU and its just another fuck you to us for Brexit as they will start pulling production from the UK.
