im currently putting a duratec 2.0 in my mk1 cortina(long term project) - out of an ST fiesta and im running 45 throttle bodies aftermarket management etc.. should be knocking on the door of 250+ just from a set of bodies and decent set up/rolling road! they are better than any vauxhall engine IMO

but that XE looks naughty!

Sorry but that's comical figures.

Every one seems to massively inflate the figures they get from a standard duratec with a set of bodies thrown on it.

You be looking at 200bhp max.

Just like all these standard Xe's running 200bhp on bodies it's just nt true.

And before you say I don't know wht I'm talking about,
I personally know of three tb'd duratecs,
Ones in a mk1 escort sprint car running an at power setup,
Other two are in a mk4 escort and mk5 fiesta, ones running dcoe jenveys, and ones on the retroford/jenvey dth setup,
All of them when first built were standard engines and all made 210bhp max on the dynos. (Can't remember exact figures)

your right there lad my xe with a set of dth boddies only made 178 at the fly with a standard motor but with a set of pistons rods head work i saw just shy of 200 it made 198.8 my new engine should do 230 plus we shall find out soon

its goin to pvs this year cant wait to see it in action beating turbos lol

Thats why most people do turbo tuning, remaps, intercoolers, big turbos, its all bolts on mods and those three mentioned are about what most people do, then they get lost or their turbo breaks

NA tuning is serious business

jre engines vary between 12k - 21k from what ive seen, but heard you cant physically get a genuine 2.5 and thats come from a very reputable builder down hereford who builds 2.3/4 xe's.

there is a dutch company iirc thats building 330bhp duratecs which equal about 9 or 11k gbp:D

Not to mention its running Q16 fuel, not pump fuel like the btcc engines.

Millington do the alloy block, saves 19kg over standard what ever that was and could get a standard xe block to 2.3 on 88mm pistons and 94mm crank iirc, more weight advantage than cc gains on the alloy block.

Thing is they were limited to 8500rpm and would have a good powerband.

Go wild on the cams, rev it higher and it'll make more than the 300bhp Swindon engines.

Wonder it that Nova has the Swindon alloy block as well, £3500 and about 5kg on its own and can run up to 2300cc I think.

Andy Hamiltons 1.6 16v rev'd up to 10500rpm, but a small cc engine, but that was home built.

Be chatting £18k for a 2.5 Vauxhall-based JRE unit, puts out 325 bhp. Lots of lads have them over here, but the more powerful choice is the Millington Diamond Series 2. Talking 350bhp there but £28k I think. :!

Maybe a repost, not sure. But here's some more pictures of that pretty mental Corsa A that TV were banging on about on Facebook.
