i tried so hard to destroy my 1.2 16v envoy. it had about 110k, very slight tappy noise when started but not that bad. just wouldent die. so i sold it to someone who binned it i think:lol:

i think them engines are possibly one of the best of the little-uns

Had a 99 B from new, gear box went at 99,500k miles and it got scraped. So you're doing well, just make sure the chain has been done (should be changed around 100k)...

lmfao

It could last for another week, but then it could last for another decade. My 12v (Very similar engine to 1.2) has done about 185k

Depends what day it was made on though tbh. Friday afternoon job and you're fooked.

Friday is the worst day for a car to be built

Well it was first registered on a Tuesday, is that unlucky?

My 1.2 8v has been on the go since 1997. It's been thrashed around the infamous Irish backroads by a friend of a friend, and is still running sweet as a nut.

dont just use it until the engine blows up, use it until the whole car blows up.

How long is a piece of string... And all that.

If it's driving fine then keep it and use it, it will last for years to come if it's looked after well. You wouldn't get much if you sold it with that many miles anyway, use it until it blows up then scrap it.

Listen for it making a noise when you start it up, if it sounds like it's running then keep it.

2067 it should last too

I was wondering how long a 1.2 16v usually lasts? I have a 1999 one with 120,000 miles on the clock, it has service history until 2004 and I gave it a service at 114,000 miles. It failed the MOT on handbrake cable and a CV joint but that's fixed now. Also let's say it's done 50% motorway driving and 50% town driving.

I ask because I'm contemplating whether I should keep it for another year or not, as it will have 130,000+ in a year which is a lot for a 16v.

Is there any noises etc that I should be looking out for ?
