I had a chip repaired through swiftcover and it was free BUT come renewal time It appeared as a claim and my premium went up

If I claim for a full screen from them, they freeze my NCB so I'd lose that years

I work for autowindscreens we charge £40+vat for repairs but if you go through insurance it doesn't effect you at all.

well went through the online bit with autoglass and they gve me a call back to confirm details/insurance details and as they arent admirals prefered repairer then she gave me admirals claims number (didnt tell me it was to admiral themselves) anyway all going through them now  after a quick scan of my documents it doesnt show anythin about it affecting ncb but suppose ill find that out at renewal time

Autoglass wanted £80+ outta me last year to repair a chip in my windscreen. Didn't have FC so couldn't claim.
Ended up having to getta new windscreen due to the placement of the chip as it was right in my line of sight and would fail the MOT.

Just booked it in with autoglass for tomorrow morning, not bothering to go through insurance unless they want an extortionate amount

glass doctors looked more expensive than autoglass although there site makes no sense on the pricing guide lol

mine went and even thought it never stated it in the policy i had to pay the first £70 for a replacement and they froze the current years no claims, i didnt loose any just meant i didnt gain one at the end of this insurance year

Should be covered on insurance.
I use glass doctors. Not sure if they are national though.
Have a look on google

your insurance company will pay for the repair too, so it saves them having to buy a full new screen in the future

window claims dont count against any for of ncb, my glass cover is £20 excess

Matt L

posted on 12th Dec 10 at 15:20

all i can remember them saying is the excess on the window is £70, either way i will be paying for the repair myself as i dont want to give the insurance comapny any excuess to up the price

Are you sure its £70? My insurance is something like chips are either free or £10? Windscreen replacement is about £70

I know of autoglass but are there any other companies about? or is it just best to go with them?

prices are from £70+ vat to repair and as the window excess is £70 seems pointless to claim on that.
