http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/6x9-4-WAY-1000-WATT-CAR-SPEAKERS-2-x-500-NEW-6-x-9_W0QQitemZ230425610654QQcategoryZ14942QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BIEW%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D10%26ps%3D63

yep, but make sure you get speakers that are capable of taking what the amp is giving them.

basically if an amp is throwing out 100rms per channel you dont want a speaker that can only take 50rms (it'll just ruin the speaker and noting good comes from that haha)

Stop saying 1000watts. That is a peak figure!

What is the RMS rating at what Ohms?

1000w is more than enough

you just need to get some decent speakers an amp them

hmm. so do you think that. to make my sub more boom id have to get a better amp?

or would i need a better sub as its only 1000w?

what do you suggest i do?

ive been looking at getting some 6x9s? should i just get a better amp instead or what?

In my opinion if your going to wire up a sub, you should amp up the speakers as well (eg rear 6x9s or uprated rears) been in afew cars where theres been a big sub but no amped speakers and all you can hear is bass lol (but if thats what you want then i guess thats good)

also buy using an aftermarket stereo most have amplifiers built in which will already amp your speakers (but depending on how powerfull your sub is, it may not be enough) eg. aftermarket stereo usually amps 50w per speaker

what i have done which suits me fine is amp the rear 6x9s with the sub on a 4channel amp and left the front coaxial (uprated) door speakers to be amped by the aftermarket stereo :)

ive just done all mine

got 4 coaxial speakers a sub and 2 amps

4 channel for my speakers and one for my sub

sounds pretty good and the sub makes your hair stand on end when on full

Depends if your amps a 2 or 4 channel, if it's 2 you can only run your sub or 6*9's of it (i'de run the sub off it then wire the 6*9's up onto the standard wires), and if it's a 4 channel you can run both your sub and 6*9's off it.

its all very well quoting power figures, but are these watts you talk of peak power or rms?

IvIarkgraham

you dont need 6x9's with a sub

get yourself some components or coaxial speakers instead

steel

if you want to use one amp for both the sub and the 6x9s you will need a 4 chanel amp

bridge 2 channels for the sub
and then 1 for each 6x9

1000w 4channel would be good for what your looking at

ive got some crap "3000w" cougar one =S
as previously said, go for rms i got fooled haha

After googleing its only 1x120w amp, very old, very underpowered, most headunits built in amp are more powerful.

16vJamie

does that mean i need a new amp or is the KAC-716 one good enuf for a 1000w sub?

16vJamie

the amp model is KAC-716?

Yes, but they is lots of kenwood amps.. I can't just guess what amp you have..

What Watt's doesn't really mean much. You can have 10000000 watts, but like 100rms.. the higher the rms the better.

16vJamie

posted on 18th Jan 10 at 13:17

the amp is kenwood too

if i was to buy another amp, would i need a 1000w amp for the 1000w 6x9s?
