It would work on an old redtop with a dizzy, but a x16xe doesn't have a dizzy so you HAVE to have an ignition ecu.

You dont have to.IIRC the ford boys use a Vaux dizzy on the bike carbd Zetecs.

Itl probably work out cheaper and less hassle to run aftermarket management though.

how do you hook up a vaux dizzy to a dizzyless zetec? you sure its not the coilpack they use?
You would have to do some major work to the head and the camshaft, as dizzys normally run from the camshaft.

Belt driven dizzys dont.

Awesome cheers mate.

As for the rest of it, I haven't got bike carbs or bodies yet, it's something I'm considering though and as I said at first, I assume the mapping would be the hardest part if it hasn't been done before (although it appears it has)

if you are getting management seems silly not to go for bike throttle bodies as they are about the same price.

Aye that's for 45's mate, not bike carbs.

well good luck controlling the spark then without megajolt or similar then, as its not going to happen, you cant fit a dizzy on to a small block.

and the distributor

thats how the spark is sorted on the 20xe it has a dizzy

Can a dizzy not be fitted and ran off an aux belt??

Eck

I was going to say exactly what Phil did, you'll need megajolt to control the ignition side of things with either.

philip2

you still need ignition control, either go for something like megajolt or buy an ignition only ecu.

if use carbs, get manifold from bogg brothers and megajolt and let a rolling road set-it up, shouldnt cost too much either tbh

bike carbs dont run on managment mate totaly mechaincal no ecu , bike throttles ie gsxr throttles are ran thru the ecu

Firstly to clear things up for me is there a difference between bike carbs and bike throttle bodies? I've been told conflicting stories.

Anyway has anyone done a 1600 16v (bored out to fit 79.5mm pistons) on bike carbs or bike throttle bodies if so what management was used?

I'm tempted to do it but after looking at management its not cheap, A DTA S40 system is £500+ Go-Tech is around £400 and megasquirt is about £300 which is more my price range, but what is bugging me is if it hasn't been done before to the same spec I'm building my engine, then mapping it is going to be a long and expensive job.

I was considering using megasquirt as its open source so I could play with it myself but that probably wouldn't end well.
