The thing with the diablis set up is that as said the ATM is the week link or the bottle neck if you want to do it step by step you could get management first then just keep adding. Tb's cams manifold.... Iv found the most reliability issues with vauxhall comes from the o.e management anyway.

DBilas one uses an inlet plenum which uses standard sensors, air flow meter etc.
AM throttle bodies do not, so the ecu won't have a clue to how much fuel to inject.

Can someone explain how dbilas throttle bodies work then?? as they run off standard management and dbilas software.

You dont need to mess about with spark, dizzy etc, so surely bolting on some throttle bodies with injectors in everybank would be the same as running an inlet??

you can pretty much by-pass the ECU, if you get an advanced dizzy to run them :)
Lucas do them for exmple, could run a simple dizzy from another engine even, just be a bit less percise.

and no, TB's would cost 2k like discussed, and normally acompany other mods. A set of carbs is a £400-500 affair if you seek the right places.

have I missed something here? where you going to mount the dizzy on a x/c16xe? other than that the plan is floorless:lol:

your going to need to budget 2k for it really.

tb's and manifold will be upto £1000

Standalone will be 300-500,

Mapping will be 300-500 too.

and i wouldnt just put tb's on, it would want a tubular manifold and some decent cams in it too so another £500 to make it worthwhile.

then it might hit 160bhp....

imo your better of fitting an xe or a 3.0 V6 for the money being spent and power you will gain.

i could get price for tb's and standalone, but best bet is too go to whoever you turst to map the car and see what they suggest

Any carbs, with the correct inlet will fit ;)

Normally Throttle bodies are to accompany other power mods!

Not think of getting a carb-setup? It'd be slightly more expensive than an inlet, but tenfold worth it.

So something like megajolt would do the trick??

philip2

posted on 19th Oct 09 at 13:47

they will work but how are you going to control the spark.igniton? you cant without minimum ignition only ecu

Corsa_Quadz

posted on 19th Oct 09 at 13:45

The throttle bodies i was planning on are suited for injection, as the come with fuel rail, injectors etc, so will they definately not run??

sand-eel

posted on 19th Oct 09 at 13:44

If its injection you will need an EU that can do injection and ignition, on carbs just ignition.

sand-eel

posted on 19th Oct 09 at 13:43

With standard management it will run very badly or not at all sadly.

philip2

posted on 19th Oct 09 at 13:42

car will not run. you need standalone ignition only management minimum as your on a coilpack not a dizzy like what lads run carbs with on the 20xe's. so there £400+ for the ignitiononly ecu + carbs, inlet, fuel pressure regs etc etc, id build a decent XE up tbh

Thanks for the replys ;)

The plan was to get some bodies and then the manifold to suit. Run them on the car on standard managment until the money came up for a decent mappable ecu. Im new to this area of modification so trying to set a challenge and gain some knowlege on the way.

What performance could i see from a set of GSR 600 throttle bodies on standard managment?? Im probly guessing around the same mark as my powerbox :boggle:

sand-eel

TBH I wouldn't thing putting TBs on alone would give you much bhp over the powerbox type inlet, as the inlet isn't much of a restriction anymore, but when you put some decent cams in with TBs it all comes clear.
Also some decent management is needed.

IvIarkgraham

you'll need thousands for a decent tb setup

they are far better than a powerbox but all depends on your budget

I have recently fitted a vx performance inlet manifold on my Gsi, its made a very big improvement to the overall response and power. I have been toying with the idea to get throttle bodies put on it.

Now im in no rush to get it done, ill be purchasing some throttle bodies hopefully by the end of the week, and getting manifold made up accordingly, FPR etc.

What are peoples view on fitting throttle bodies and would i see any more gains from these than i would from an aftermarket inlet manifold??

Have people come across any problems with running, fitting??

My overall concern is what obstacles i would be facing if i invested in doing it. I have owned a 1.4 sport with and Flame inlet on it, a c20xe and now im on a gsi and fancy doing something a little different to it. The most desirable thing to do would be to drop a C20LET in there, but the funds arent exactly through the roof and would need the car on a day to day basis.

Please Discuss
