The thing with the diablis set up is that as said the ATM is the week link or the bottle neck if you want to do it step by step you could get management first then just keep adding. Tb's cams manifold.... Iv found the most reliability issues with vauxhall comes from the o.e management anyway.

DBilas one uses an inlet plenum which uses standard sensors, air flow meter etc.

Can someone explain how dbilas throttle bodies work then?? as they run off standard management and dbilas software.

quote: you can pretty much by-pass the ECU, if you get an advanced dizzy to run them :) Lucas do them for exmple, could run a simple dizzy from another engine even, just be a bit less percise. and no, TB's would cost 2k like discussed, and normally acompany other mods. A set of carbs is a £400-500 affair if you seek the right places. [Edited on 20-10-2009 by Kevxx]

so whats going to control the ignition if you go carbs? if your planning on leaving it to chance with the std ecu id would forget it, you need proper 3d management so you may aswell just go for tb's try gotech from jamsport

Normally Throttle bodies are to accompany other power mods!

So something like megajolt would do the trick??

they will work but how are you going to control the spark.igniton? you cant without minimum ignition only ecu

The throttle bodies i was planning on are suited for injection, as the come with fuel rail, injectors etc, so will they definately not run??

If its injection you will need an EU that can do injection and ignition, on carbs just ignition.

With standard management it will run very badly or not at all sadly.

car will not run. you need standalone ignition only management minimum as your on a coilpack not a dizzy like what lads run carbs with on the 20xe's. so there £400+ for the ignitiononly ecu + carbs, inlet, fuel pressure regs etc etc, id build a decent XE up tbh

TBH I wouldn't thing putting TBs on alone would give you much bhp over the powerbox type inlet, as the inlet isn't much of a restriction anymore, but when you put some decent cams in with TBs it all comes clear.

you'll need thousands for a decent tb setup

I have recently fitted a vx performance inlet manifold on my Gsi, its made a very big improvement to the overall response and power. I have been toying with the idea to get throttle bodies put on it. |
