woo I was right

Although tbh I spent enough time buying cylinder heads for an x16xe I should know :o

XEL was a hi torque version as stated.

100bhp
4lb ft more than X16XE

Usuaully with hydrolic clutch as well.

S shaped inlet on top of the engine.

Never saw how 6bhp less and 4lb ft more at a lower rpm would really make a difference in a 1.5 tonne car

wrong- thats the z16xe

x16xel

has a x16xe bottom end with a x14xe head/inlet

so has smaller ports on the inlet and inlet cylinder head

makes 6bhp less in standard form over the x16xe due to this, but i guess makes better low torque torque

it was my old engine, and it DEFINATELY has the triangular inlet ports on the head. it may not be an xel though

engine was originally fitted to a T reg vectra 1.6 16v

Yeah it does but can piss on your bonfire i.e. XEL head on XE and lower BHP due to ports.

Look where the box mates up the block may be dirty so give it a wipe (it is on the block, obviously) Should clearly say X16XEL

So vauxhall had loads of x14xe heads and inlets laying around and loads of x16xe bottom ends laying around, needed an engine for the Astra Mk3 so went "ahh ha, I know, we will bolt these two together!"

yer iirc they cylinder head has smaller ports and is more or less the same as the x14xe one. Im am sure one of the small block buffs will clear it up :look:

If you mean can you put an x16 inlet on an x16el yer you can

iirc its the same as an x16 except the inlet and it has smaller ports on the head. (same head as an x14xe)
