Yeah the BMW SMG models are faster than the manual equivilents.

depends which gearbox it is, if it is the C2 one it is actually slower than a human changing.
If its say a bmw smg box it will be faster.

I'm more thinking about getting a fast accurate gearchange :)

Don't worry I'm fully aware of the mechanical differences :)

manual and sequential gearboxes are totally different, eg a C2 vtr with paddle shift is just a manual gearbox with some solonoids and crap that makes it change with a button, thats why they are pish.

Had a few vehicles with sequential boxes - My old F1 Kart, the MK Indy and the RS6!
The only thing I dont like about the steering wheel shifts on the RS6 is that the rack isnt the shortest so its hard to change gear when your using lock! To be fair its not that bad though cos most of the time Im in full auto and when I am giving it death Im not shifting mid bend anyway!

i have driven both stick and paddle, and have to say that the paddle is amazing.... although the stick is a massive improvement over the stahdard box....

If the scrap dealer next door gets a crashed C in with a easytronic box I'll rip it out and have a play :)

I've never driven one.. Does anyone know how fast the shift it?

Talking of Sequential boxes.. Has anyone ever played around with the Corsa C 'tiptronic' box.. At a glance they look like a normal gearbox but with solenoids to control the clutch and shifting. I wonder how fast they can be made to shift up and down :D

holinger sequential box = £12k + not something i could afford thats for sure! The car im looking forward to seeing this year is the phase 2 Norris Designs 3 Door Evo, that too now has a holinger box, transverse mounted engine too :) thus 950bhp out of a 2.3 lol

I suppose its a bit like anything; use it enough, and it become second nature.

i'd love it...

two hand on the wheel all the time...

Esp in the wet... a bit sideways underbraking, with transmission lockup too... It must be a lot easier with two hands.

exactly like WRC cars

I've raced with a sequential stick shift and found it really easy (obviously), but i don't think i could get used to paddles that easily.

weird how the stick moves as he shifts with the paddles.

You must be able to have so much more control lining a car up for a corner or keeping it on the track exiting full pelt. Dread to think the cost of the setup though. The box along is >10k i think, then you have all the gubbins to make the airshifter work, then the rest
