YEah newer version of the Isuzu found in corsas, cavs etc. Just been hunting for tuning bits and some guy on astrasport has his up to circa 140BHP! Bloody good considering its 74bhp std!

I think my egr valve is causing the weird whistling noise, i might actually remove the whole system?

so this is the engine up after the mk3/ corsa b isuzu td engines, im sure the difference in the drive is quite big

So was the van pretty quick once mapped?
I'm deciding if its worth doing or not really. Where was it you had it done?

Thanks mate

Thanks for the info Ian. Ive got the van now and am very pleased with my swap!
EML goes out after a while of driving and engine seems to drive ok really, dodgy noise from the inlet area but my mate pinched a pipe going to the EGR and it dissapeared so it might be that.

Is it normal for these engines to have no power hardly under 2000RPM? Thats what made me think its limp mode but one you reay 2.5k onwards it gets going ok!

dont waste your time trying to flash the ecu yourself using a kwp2000 programmer etc etc from ebay. The software is usually corupt and the map files you get are sometimes not even for the right car. You'll also have immobiliser problems with a y17dt engine.
Put your money into a reputable company that will flash the ecu for you tbh.

I know what limp mode is like but my 2L astravan still feels more gutsy.
Have you lot heard of flashing the ECU for a cheap power hike?

beware there are some known problems with fuel pump ecu's which can put the engine into limp mode. The solder on the joints becomes brittle and breaks leaving poor connections in the ecu .

Just be sure its not the ecu causing the running problems (very common especially on astra) as it can be quite pricy to fix.

limp mode is literally that. Its not going to be going anywhere fast thats for sure. rev limit is really low and turbo is hardly boosting you'll need to get that sorted asap.

remap was circa £250 iirc on a group buy thing

Thanks

mickey mouse rolling road graphs like but for the money it was well worth having it remapped

That was just a boggo standard engine and cooler with just a remap
pic but you cant see the cooler as its on the front

can just see the cooler under the number plate here

power wise it went from 75bhp to just under 100bhp but drives so much better with the increase in torque low down

Ian, wow! thats impressive. What bhp did it gain with the mapping? What did it bring it up to?

Have you any pics of the engine/intercooler?

Thanks

y17dt already has an intercooler albeit a small one.
I used to have one in my combo van that i got remapped the difference in the drive was amazing.

before and after torque curves

would be interesting to know as the old model could easily handle more power so surely this one must be the same if the ECU can be messed with

As far as i was aware theyr isnt much available for the Y17DT tuning wise.

Is this the '1.7DTi' engine? If so, I know Steinmetz do a tuning package for it. You can do more with it than the 1.7CDTi.

And in theory, you can fit a bigger intercooler, because it's an intercooled turbo engine.

Im looking at buying one with the Isuzu engine, thing is its only got 75 bhp i think?

This is the newer Isuzu so electronic fuel pump, Has anyone had one mapped or tried flashing it themselves?
How about fitting an intercooler?

Thanks
