Electronic control unit..

To answer, the question, None of teh corsa b control uniots communicate with each other, each control unit had its own set of inputs and outputs iirc..

Very basic set up

AFAIK, there is no BCM on a Corsa B, as for EPS, if you mean Electronic Power Steering, not all of them have it, I don't have any idea what and ECM is.

csweatherston I agree it wont be CAN but there will be some kind of Communication system. How does the BCM communicate with the EPS, how does the ECM communicate with the BCM, There will be something, Most likley to be K Line or KWP2000 communication protocal, I just wondered if there was any information I could get from here!!

If anyone finds out could they please contact me on jason.hutton@trw.com

Thank you

Jason

dude, either youve been reading too many books or your seriously confused.

a basic corsa b, or even tho top of the range corsa b will not use multiplex wiring therefor not have and bus systems....

its just battery - ecu - sensor -back to the ecu, simple as

it definatly wont be can, more likely iso

Sorry for the long delay,

First statement, sorry for the confusion, I am english who's interested in the Communication around the vehicle. i.e. The Nissan K12 and Renault Megane uses the CAN protocal has described in burgess explaination. I'm sure the newer Corsa's uses CAN Comms as it's the new international standard. but the older Platform B, what comms is used. Thanks Steve for your reply but the OBD and OBDII are just connection configurations and not the Communications. Is it CAN, ISO, K Line ect....

Thank you

jason

an explaination of canbus systems here

What is CAN Bus?
CAN Bus is a multiplexed wiring system used to connect intelligent devices such as Electronic Control Units (ECU's) on vehicles, allowing data to be transferred in a low-cost and reliable manner. CAN means 'Controller Area Network' and was developed by Bosch in 1980. Most new vehicles use this system and it is becoming increasingly difficult to install after-market products without using a CAN Bus Interface.

Why is this system used?

The reasons for the vehicle manufacturers using CAN Bus are:-

(a) Significant reduction in wiring leading to:-

(i) Significant reduction in manufacturing cost and hence retail cost.

(ii) Reduction in weight resulting in improved fuel consumption.

(b) Reduced number of interconnections hence improving reliability.

How can I find the CAN Bus Wires?

It is easy to identify the wiring as it is just a twisted pair of thin wires. These will be found all over the vehicle - sometimes in with a conventional main loom. The wires are called 'CAN High' and 'CAN Low' and it is important that any interface is connected correctly to these wires. All Bridgwater Electronics Interfaces have an LED to indicate when the wires have been connected correctly.

What aftermarket products will require a CAN Bus Interface?

Most of the higher specification GPS Navigation systems will require a speed pulse signal as a minimum. Many also have inputs for illumination and reverse signals. On CAN Bus vehicles these signals may not be present so a CAN Bus Interface will be required.

Taxi Meters require a speed pulse signal in order to calculate the fare. Hence on CAN Bus equipped vehicles, a CAN Bus Speed Pulse Interface will be required.

bloody hell someones been studying

Welcome to CS

Where are you from? There's some confusion about the language you are using, "communications" to us means telephones or radios for example...

Hello all, this is my first post on here.

I'm just wondering what communications does the Corsa Platform B vehicle use.
