isnt the twinport about improving fuel economy?

the Z18XE doesnt come in Twinport, it comes in DCMCP version which is full 140bhp VVT

the 1.2 non twinport and twinport are essentially the same engine with the twin intake being the only difference giving 5 more bhp and slightly better economy.

the 1.4 non twinport and twinport are different engines producing the same bhp but giving slightly better economy due to the choke on the 2nd port being shut until a certain rev level.

twinport is just a different injection system, trust me! if u unplug them, they actually make the engine run quieter!

TwinPort

Updated version introduced in 2002, with lighter cast-iron cylinder block and camshaft driven by toothed belt. Features EGR valve and TwinPort variable intake geometry - twin intake ports with a choke closing one of the ports at low RPM, providing strong air swirl pattern for higher torque levels and better fuel economy. The drive belt for the camshafts is wider and stronger than before, and water pump is not driven by it anymore which improves reliability.

Good old Wikipedia.
