yes rob, im jinxed!!!

explain more about the dremel method, ive drilled 1 out but its taken an hour, in total 3 sheared as the last person to do the head gasket was a complete chimp and didnt remove the water from the bolt holes in the block and they were rusted in solid!

it would be easy if all of the bolt head came off but it sheared just the top 3mm:mad:

this happened on mine, come to think of it, you did it! i cut through the offending bolt with a dremel, and it came free then. only top top part of the head of the bolt snaps off, leaving the wider part holding the head down

Yes i agree, cylinder head should come off if the head of the bolt has snapped? Also id the head of the bolt has snapped that should relieve the tension making it quite easy to get the bolt out by welding a nut on.

i'm lost. the head has come off the bolt, but the cylinder head head wont come off? surely the headbolt without the head, would be just like a metal stud? so the cylinderhead should come off....

Dave A

posted on 22nd Jul 06 at 11:47

tried that before, doubt it would hold as they were rediculously tight.

ajscorsa

isnt there enough room to weld the head back on or weld on a not for you to try twist it out??

Gregor

So you were lossening the tight fucker and all of a sudden it became really loose.

its keeping the drill straight, alot easier on a vertical miller but not everyone has a milling m/c sat in there garage!

Dave A

well, the head is stuck on because only the top 3-4mm sheared off the bolt.

Gregor

posted on 22nd Jul 06 at 11:03

Are they stuck in the block ?

Dave A

posted on 22nd Jul 06 at 11:03

Gregor

Gregor

You can heat them up , but its getting them out thats the hard bit , when they have no head ?

CORSA NUT

Dave A
