Where in this thread have I said my Astra sounds like an Impreza?

Maybe you should read what's posted in a thread first before typing out your replies.

No?

Top pic is Astra manifold and bottom pic is Corsa manifold.

The top pic manifold is the same as the one on my engine...

It looks visually different, plus no Scooby induction roar when the airbox is removed and engine is revved.

Sam, you will probably find that the different manifold was just a revision change to make it more economical, it IS the 14XE, not XEL as everyone is saying. Only the 1.6 got the XEL variant with reduced power and increased low down torque. I dont think you will have any problems with the 1.4 in the Astra.

jr

posted on 1st Dec 04 at 22:22

i thought the same priciple applied to the astra 1.4 engine as well

how does the inlet manifold differ then ?

Sam

posted on 1st Dec 04 at 22:20

Nope it's X14XE, it's the 1.6 that has the low output engine X16XEL.

jr

posted on 1st Dec 04 at 22:19

astra is x14xel isnt it, more restictive inlet manifold as far as im aware

Sam

Is there any reason why Vauxhall use a different inlet manifold on the Astra engine to the one that's in the Corsa? They are both the same engine output wise ie. 90bhp.

I don't think there are any other differences between the two engines?

Corsa = Corsa B and Astra = Astra F (mk3) by the way...
