it all depends mate, if your happy with the way it is sounding now, then its pointless payin more money on upgrading. But if u want it too look good, take a look around at some installs and see wot u fancy doing....

well, it wont increase battery 'strain' but it will increase overall current draw. But, as batteries arent designed to be discharged quickly, they will help to improve excessive ramps of current draw from the battery. So, yes, overall current draw will be higher due to leakage, but the time taken is longer and so you have less of a steep slope.

my system sounded better without the cap

Legacy LA570. The power of the amp is 2 x 400Watts (with remote bass controller) £ 99.99
1.2 farad cap also by legacy called the LCA120DBL for £ 59.99

Might Have Some New front components installed if i can afford it Legacy components 100w rms and 240w max.

what u think then peeps :)

is that 400W RMS for the amp? or peak?

and yeh, i agree with richie about the cap, spend it on upgrading wiring etc first. Although, it does smooth out the supply a bit more (like in power supply design) and stops the lights from dimming as much. Also it will reduce the strain on your battery, as batteries arent really designed for rapid discharge, so it will be of sligh benifit and if its part of the design of your build u may as well include it. :)

Dont bother with the cap bud it wont benefit you

That's basically what I've got, but without the cap + with an older LA600 2x400w amp. Have u got the pioneer VCCS subs? if so this should sound wicked! I also have a set of JBL comps in front + a set of JBL 6x9's running off a 2x200w amp (on high pass) in a stealth shelf in rear!

Rocky

posted on 8th Mar 05 at 22:02

Right i have been told i got to get these

1000-1200 two channel amp to make things easier.
Nice thick 4gauge wiring kit.
Possibly a 1-2.4 farad cap to keep voltage high in the vehicle.

Rocky

sorry for that error

Korsa

power to the sub..... :o are you mad.....

power cables go to the amp... and you wouldn't need another one so long as it could handle the power....

would just need two throws of cable off the amp into each sub...

Rocky

posted on 8th Mar 05 at 19:34

would i need another power cable again if i have another sub in or can i connect it to the other one some way???

Korsa

posted on 8th Mar 05 at 19:25

yea look for a 300 - 400w rms (not max) amp.....

2 subs will be more powerfull, but again you'll need twice the power amp again...

Rocky

posted on 8th Mar 05 at 18:23

or shall i get another one of these subs Pioneer 12" sub 600w max beside it and get a much better amp to power both off these is this possible and should be much more bass to them is this poss kev cheers

Rocky

posted on 8th Mar 05 at 18:23

this is what bloke said on corsasport ice electircs abt the situation

Your Pioneer amp ain't nowhere near powerful enough to run that sub.

That sub is 300w RMS and you'll be lucky to get 120w RMS from that amp in bridged mode.

You need ro put a least 350w RMS through that sub to run it comfortably.

BTW MAX power figures mean nothing.
