I dont care what anyone says I think a panel filter is the best way to go unless you make a real good job with a heatshield and cold air feeds when I had mine I was getting flat spots all over sure it sounded good but on the motorway it was plain and simple annoying the amount of sound being generated was unbelievable

quote: never with mine!! i had a KnN pannel filter in mine, didn't really make much difference, then put mu BFO on and its sounds great and engine picks up loads more when ya get to the 2500rpm range

Runs loads better with box and panel filter. Which I'd rather have than something that looks half decent when I open my bonnet once in a blue moon.

inductio kits look good, sound great, make ya car little faster, id get one!! and for the chokeing when warm, thats only because hot air bulids up around the filter and the filter sucks in hot air rather than cold air and hot air dont expand hence the car lags!!!!

Actually.. had air box between a knee and foot to keep it steady while I was drilling and the drill slipped on an angled piece and caught in my jeans.

quote: i had a k&n, it sounded unreal, but i had erratic idling and lumpy rev range took it off and replaced with standard air box, the car runs loads smoother, and its better on petrol not sure if the same applies with 1.4 sports but basically the theory is the filter cant match the fuelling or summat n pulls the petrol thru too quick makin it lumpy, i aint got a performance panel filter yet, but its defo an improvement, only real time most induction kits are workin the best is when its cold

quote: and for those of us in a good mood today:) its ok paul, but if ur not gettin a viper, id recommend that u get a decent panel filter cos with the induction kits like k&n etc, they tend to make revs lumpy, affect fuel consumption and when its warm, they do bugger all but make car choke. decent panel filter and drill the air box and ur sorted, and a decent cold air feed not the shitty ones u get with the k&n mate

paul the viper is defo worth it as far as induction kits go, but think of it as in a mantzel powerbox is only £400 and thats bout 10-15bhp increase, wereas a viper induction kit would give u maybe 5bhp tops
