Dogs are about a million percent more maintenance, can't leave them alone for a couple of hours without them getting traumatised (apparently) and they jump all over you every time you walk in the house, covering you with hair and stinking dribble every time.

Cats can be left for days (not that I ever would, RSPCA :o ) and when we walk in, we get a nice little purr and a stroke and that's about it. The cat doesn't cover us in stinking dog dribble all the time, she'll sit on our lap all night being quiet and well behaved. Oh, and I don't need to take her outside twice a day to walk her.

Cats have got a much deeper personality than dogs do (IMO), dogs just come across as stupid and annoying, and their dribble stinks - did I mention that?

Our cat is also a house cat, so even lower maintenance - don't need to worry about waking up to a spastic sparrow rolling around on the bed.

I could easily turn into a crazy cat person

When a house cat takes a shit indoors it stinks, way worse than a dog

OK you raise some good points but I'm allergic to cats that's all, plus they use to scare the shit out of me

Depends what you want in a pet. I love dogs, but they're very dependent on humans so no use having one if you leave them at home all day whilst there's no one at home.

Cats couldn't care less

we got Stanley about 4 years ago now, it took ages for him to settle in, mainly because the cat we already had, Misty is a right grumpy guts, when he just wanted to play she would hiss and run away.. so we spent a lot of time playing with him.. hes all good now tho.. they will sleep on the same bed together, but not very close lol

When we got him

Oh that's cute! I guess you know all the important pieces of info about settling him down? Play with him as much as you can, plenty of cat toys, cat nip is good to help a new cat adjust by giving some sort of new familiarity to their surroundings.

Picked him up from cats Protection. Less than a year old. Now we have the long journey of getting our existing Cat to accept him

He is a bundle of joy
