I've used Skype while browsing, seemed fine......plus I could use my normal headphones and mic, rather than having to fork out for a phone-handset.

would be abit limiting if they just did a deal with BT/DSL, would mean that anyone wanting VoD with sky NEED to have BT BB :| - and we all know how good bt are (almost as good as NTL  )....

Quite a lot of the new ADSL packages are capped bandwidth limits. Which voip could very easily eat away at. Majority of people might not realise this unless its clearly spelled out for them.

Using technology derived from music streaming to bring audio in and out of your computer to make phone calls on the cheap.

quote: i know london have had VoD for a few years (from that tv service company), and aye NTL are in production of doing VoD for cable etc :) Although i dunno what sky is going to do :boggle: its not as if they have a decent two way interface at the moment, and two way sat link would cost and arm and leg :

quote: thats just a handset for VOIP (which plugs in via USB, can get propper telephones that use CAT5, so no need for pc) :) you need the software and provider ontop - like skype etc etc Skype is cheap though (per min) - GBP 0.014 pennies to uk phones, GBP 0.163 pennies to mobiles  [Edited on 28-02-2005 by Dom]

Has anyone ever used this? Heard loads of talk about skype service, and just had an email from firebox about a hardware handset that plugs into your pc like a normal phone, and you get free calls to other similar setups, or 1.2p/min to landlines and mobiles! Looks pretty good, and im tempted to try it, but was just wondering if anyone else had any experience. |
