get a small hollow pipe on the end of ya socket to increase its length makes it easier to get bolts undone, dont do them back up that way though cos you can get so much force you will strip the threads, trust me i know after doing my wheel bolt up super tight and having to get new rear drums!!!!!

yeah, it looks like a 30min odd job. Just this fekin bolt wont budge.

Goin to try wd40.. after buying yet another socket set.

I can get both seats and rear out in under 40 mins, and it doesnt take long to put them back in - I use a torque wrench to get them perfectly fitted afterwards as well

basically the most fiddly part is removing the plastic trim that covers the side and subframe of the seat - once thats done there r only 2 bolts per seat

i had problems getting mine out too. eventually i just gave it a good battering with a hammer then kicked the wrench and it started turning. same on passenger side took me bout 30 mins. took me 4 hrs on the back cos i couldnt get a bolt undone.

When I had problems getting the driver's seat out of my old Corsa, I just soaked the bolts in WD40, left them for a couple of minutes, then tried again, and they came out fine.

I can't afford to keep going through these socket heads! :!

20mins eh... i wish.

the two outer bolts arent sealed they poke through the bottom of the car through a nut welded to the floor :)

took me 5 mins to take my drivers seat out, you only need to take out a small piece of trim then the 2 bolts. mind u i have a 5 door so its easier access to them, another good reason to get a 5 door hehe

vauxtillidie

they are probably just rusty

Corsa_Mel

 i'm kicking myself thinking it was going to be a quick 10min job.. oh how mistaken I was!

Just been out and bout £10 worth of sockets, srewdrivers etc. I've now torn yes torn through 2 sets of socket heads! and the bolt hasn't moved one bit :(

Think its going to be a long fight just to get this friccin bolt/screw out.

I think its t50 not too sure ill check later if i get time.

Best bet is to get a selection of torx sockets from halford etc., i did only about £10 and come in handy for all round the car.
hope this helps

its easier to remove the seat and subframe together. ive done it both ways.

vauxtillidie

ive not bothered bout the torque but just make sure there done up well. im not sure bout size for the star screw ones as ive never had them out, the other ones are 13mm sockets i think

Corsa_Mel

so no one really bothers with the torque ratings and stuff?

whats the nut size I need for the big star screws?

u take out all plastic trim
then undo the 2 bolts at the back of the seat
put the red fork into the pre tensionor to stop it goin off
and rol/slide seat forward and out
u could re-thread lock the bolts but i didnt and theve been fine

Was planning on doing this tomorrow as I need to lay my hundred and odd wires.

Just been reading the haynes manual and it doesn't look as easy as it looks. It goes on about removing all traces of old thread-locking compound, apply some more thread locking compound, tighten bolts to specified torque settings etc etc.

Any one done this and is it just a 10min job?

What type of bolt tool do i need for the big bolts?

cheers
