quote:  All corsa petrol engines are fuel injected, except a few straggly K reg 1.2's with 1.2 carb'd motors from novas. Have you been thrashing the hell out of your car? are you constantly topping up oil? sounds like heavy damage if there is so much smoke. Dave

Yes I had that problem. Valve stem seals. I got all mine done at once. Cost = Around 500 notes. OUCH! Good thing was tho I bought the car two weeks after it, so I took it back to the garage and they paid! MMmmm gotta love warranties!

had this problem on my TD, turned out that the oil breather hose from the head was blocked. unblocked it and problem went instantly.

If its valve stem seals they are like 19p each you need 16 but its the labour that costs cos its a head off strip down job, i would do it myself if i was you, piston rings now thats expensive, depending on weather the cylinders have beed scored, it might need a rebore and new pistons with new rings, if not you could get away with new piston rings or oversized rings if the bores are scored but this leads to oil consumption, if it is the rings its a complete engine strip down really and you might as well re condition it while ya there, do the valve stem seals and see how it goes

It sounds to me like, piton rings if its happening all the time, my GSI does it when i boot it as soon as i break 5000RPM, smoke appears out the back and lots of it, and when pulling away, valve stem seals normally puff smoke on ya gear change.
