Yer he said to fill the water up and if it bubbles out or something with the cap off the heads gone.

Rich what do you mean the expansion bottle pressure cap? Where is that?

ok mate u need a rad anyway so u will have to buy one or get one from srappy - then like rich says change pressure cap - top up water / antifreeze then run car if it start using alot of water and become very hot - (thermostat in right hand side on dash goes into the red) the heads gone aslos another way to check is to take of oill filler cap and if there is some white gunge on it the head gasget has gone

your aa man is prob defo right if it has blown the rad it will had blown the head gasket for sure

I'd personally check/change the expansion bottle pressure cap, as thats the thing that controls the cooling system pressure, regardless of whether the head gasket has gone, the pressure cap should release the pressure before the rad blows up.
Oh, its a gnat's cheaper than a gasket job too.

I was sitting on the side of the road chattin to a mate, the engine was tickin over, and suddenly there was a huge bang and loads of steam! Jumped out the car and water everwhere. Looked at the radiator and the left hand side was missing.

RAC bloke reckoned my head gasket has gone which built up pressure to blow the radiator. How much will a head gasket cost plus fitting? Expensive ive heard, i can do the radiator myself so thats no problem!

Cheers
