Pull the carpet up around the base of the handbrake lever, there should be a single wire going to the switch which is attached to the handbrake to sense its movement.

If this set up is the same as a nova, probably is then the handbrake light is there purely to tell you the handbrake light is on, no warning light, just an advice. The only thing that governs this light is the switch on the handbrake.

On a nova this switch would be 100% defo the problem, unless there is a wiring fault between the dash and the switch.

Yea when my handbrake cable snapped it was cummin on wen i pulled away as the handbrake would just lift up when i accelerated but that light is also the brake warning light so i reckon u have a leak some where

Have u tried gettin the handbrake cable tightened:| mite not be the solution but just a thought

Try the rear drums its more than likely a slave cylinder leakin
