Surely most of the weight of the alloy is in the cylindrical drum part of the alloy, an a smaller proportion on the actual face/design... hence bigger is higher in weight...?

Paul_J: it all depends what material the alloys are made of, coz it you have a 17" wheels with a design with hardly any material i e hardly any but really thin spokes, it would weigh less than a 15" with more chunky spokes.

yes but Since you have more metal on the 17's to turn its a fair bit heavier than the air inside the big tyres on the 15's...

ITS SHOULD BE OK as the standard 15 inch wheels on the sxi (including the tyre ) is almost the same size as a 17 inch wheel and tyre so there is almost no difference in height much and in performance

17" alloys will really affect the performance of the car, on my old corsa B i went from the 14" SRi alloys to 17" and the low end power felt really drained, IMO biggest to go for unless its an all show no-go car is 16".

I wanna get the GT Koncept Body Kit, but at the moment only have the standard 15" alloys on my Corsa C SXi will the body kit be alright on these untill i manage to get 17"?? Or should i get the 17" and then get a body kit...... the reason I ask is that I really want this body kit but can't afford to get alloys aswell yet. |
