^^^not that we need to go that technical, after all they all go boom, difficult to really tell the difference unless u measuring spl.

agree to disagre then!

corb am not gonna get into an arguement or nething but 1 sub runnin at twice the power (RMS) is doin twice as much work and therefore even although it moves half as much air, it has double the pressure (2x flow rate), so in theory it shud b the same....

SPL wouldnt be the same, as 2 subs ahve more air displacement than 1, so will create a higher amount of pressure inside the car. If, again, you were to use a ported box, the amount of pressure would again be doubled.

Toger, what components have you got, or how much do you have to spend??

I think toger13 is talkin about not having the bass drown out the rest of the system... i.e. front components ect..

u will always just hear bass from a sub...if u can hear voices cuming from ur subs uve got a prob..!.lol dont wanna b putting high frequencies through ur subs.

For better sound quality though, 2 lower powered subs wud perform better than 1 runnin at twice the power...although in theory the spl shud b the same.

i dont just want loud (loud is good though) i also want sq cos there is no point in having it if you can just hear bass and no song etc...

At the end of the day, volume is all down to air displacement. A 10" wont be as loud as a 12" and a 12" as loud as a 15".

Two 125RMS 12's will be louder than one 250RMS 12". And if you then put the two 12's in a ported box, louder still:D

my amp can only do 125rms X2 or 250rms X1 mate i have just looked on the jl sight and the new 10-w3 is 300rms :( so i would have to tryand get one of the older ones

All depends on how much you want to spend and how good a sound you want.

but spending $$$ is not always the answer.

not much help am i.

my personel prefrence is Infinity perfect 12's. 350 watts, rms. sound sweet and clean without breaking the bank.

I would always say JL Audio. They are a lot better for normal music. The Cerwin's are more used for SPL. i know Claire Richardson and Daimo have Cerwin Vega so they would be the best to ask about what they think.

There probably itsn't much between them. Although different ICE shops will tell you different stories. You could also go for:
Diamond Audio Mac daddy.
RE XXX (you would need a monster amp to run this properly)
Rockford
Fusion
Audio Bahn

The list is endless.

sorry i keep posting sub threds but i am still not sure and i know you lads / lasses know your ICE any way

i already have an amp and i have been warned off getting 2 12 inch subs which take 125 WRMS
and been told to get 1 that can take 250 WRMS

i have been told to get a Cerwin Vega HED 12 inch sub at leeds car audio
and i have been told at unicar to get a JL Audio W3 12 inch what you all think they both say each others is better or do you think different ?

thanks

Simon
