If you pull and twist the gear lever, you have a very good chance of breaking the plastic linkage at the base of the shaft.

my gearknob came off with ease, just a lot of twisting whilst pulling. unfortunately the new one wouldnt let me use reverse so now my standard one remains on at a dodgy angle.

The gearnob is just a very tight fit! pull it, like your pulling a .......... of your granny. In fact when i did mine i had to saddle both front seats and put my back into it with such force that when it came off i chined myself. As you can imagine my mates were very undrstanding and dident roll around on the floor laughing. Hope this helps.

I might have this handle and knob for grabs very soon if its any good to you. A lot of aftermarket (universal) gaiters can be a pig to fit well. I might be able to get custom made ones in leather the same as mine for £30 for handbrake and gear gaiters if interested.

im thinking of replacing the gear knob with a nice chrome number. How do i remove the existing knob = cut or pull? Also the 'gaiter' i think thats wot its called, is it easy to change that for a silver one? Second the handbrake how do i remove and fit new handbrake handle? Wheres could and cheap to get these parts from. THanks |
